Well my favourite pass time is going to Porta Palazzo , as an Asian living here , i can find all Asian food stuffs there and the Farmers Market is my favourite, fresh vegetables and fruits come straight from their farm . On another note , Torino is surrounded by many small villages , now is the time of sagra (celebration of something) and there are so many to choose from , a great pass time on the weekends ...

Even in the summer Torino has got a lot to offer: music and drama festivals, concerts in historical palaces and churches, open air markets, etc. etc. Check it out in the local paper and don't hesitate to get in touch with us to get some extra tips and specific info. Also, from Torino you can easily reach lovely places up in the mountains or on the Mediterranean coast and have a great time relaxing and doing some sightseing.

Check out this website with five different restaurants in town
www.foodandcompany.com
once you open the front page, click on each of the five
restaurants on top and you will find an English flag at the
bottom right of the page with the english menus.....
Once you open the menu, on the bottom right of each
page it says 'sfogliami', which means 'turn the page' !
Hope you enjoy this!
Birilli in the hills just behind Gran Madre is wonderful on
a hot summer evening...
Give me feedback please on the website and the restaurants!
thanks,
Cristina

This is at a friend's self service in an industrial area near C.so Alamano.
The price quality relationship has always been excellent at lunch and the menu sounds like fun.
If anyone would like to go, please let me know.
Baci!
J.
PS Please spread the word with your friends.

A wonderful day away from Torino (and in fresher climates as well) is in one of the mountain resorts of the Val di Susa. We go to Montgenevre, which is just over the French border: mountain biking for the adventurous (equipment hire available from several shops), great views and walks - take the lift in the centre of town called "Chalvet", go for a walk at 2000m, have a French brasserie lunch at La Bergerie by the upper lift building and descend via the "summer bobsleigh" (14oom of "sledging" down the mountain, anyone over 1.25m high can do it by themselves, smaller children must go with an adult). There are also several simple restaurants in the centre of the village, and for the children try the tree-climbing adventure area at the far end of town.

I've just done my first 2 rowing lessons!!! My Italian friend has introduced me to the club Armida in Parco Valentino just across from the Architecture school. They have an interesting offer that doesn't make you fork up the usual 700 membership fee to have a go at rowing if this is your first time. They offer 80euros a month and you go as often as you like. For the summertime they have an even better ofter to pay 15 euros a lesson about 1.5hrs long and it's perfect for beginners. Not sure about their English level, but there's a great view from the water and it's first-hand Italian experience with nice people. You can just show up at these times, but come early.

Keep a memo of this place, although it opens again in september: la deutsche vita in via stampatori 10 tel. 011-5620876. It is a wonderful place, somewhere between a beer garten and a bistrò. Great food and superb beer. Avoid if strict on a diet. xxxx

If you want to use the BIKE SHARING yellow bicycles that you see around town the system is NOT
user-friendly! You can only do it on line and the website is only in Italian at the moment. I have registered
on the website and have bought two cards that are valid for one year for 25 euros each which seems to be
the easiest solution. They will mail me the cards at home a week from today. If any of you would like me
to buy them a card, I am happy to do it for you on my account.
