BASIC ITALIAN COOKING

Description:
Daniela pretty much invented this activity, starting to invite a group of ladies to her house to experience the fun of Italian cooking without the hassle (and the cost) of a professional cooking class. She usually offers 4 lessons, but may even been tempted to offer an advanced course. So just bring your apron and enthusiasm and Daniela will do the rest. (You only need to reimburse the ingredients ).

Every year the IWCT raises money for a local charity. Members choose a charity in the beginning of the year and then donate what they've raised at the end of the year. In the last few years the IWCT has helped a winter sport team for disabled children, a children's playground, the San Vincenzo house for women, the Giulia di Barolo house for women and the home of the elderly Carlo Alberto. An international group of people led by Colleen Sharkey and Rhona Oliver. Our group is made up of many different nationalities, both professional and amateur who put on plays in English in Torino. Twice a year at the theatre of the Casa di Riposo Carlo Alberto, Corso Casale 56. By the way, we would love to have more people joining our group in various capacities. KNITTING

Description:
Donna's experienced hands will offer you the opportunity to experiment with or rekindle your knitting skills in her cosy apartment in la Crocetta. Meetings take place at 10:00 am on the 2nd Thursday of the month and are completely free. Members take turn in providing something to nibble on (if not too busy knitting!)

LANGUAGE EXCHANGE

Description:
A new activity, started last year thanks to Graziella.s goodwill and aimed at improving our members. linguistic skills through one hour of conversation with a mother tongue fellow member. Offered in Italian and English at the historic caffé Florio on the first and third Wednesday of the month.

LIBRARY

Description:
A well attended social as well as cultural monthly event, graciously hosted by Bettina Cova in her lovely home up in the hills. The library is open on the third Wednesday of the month at 10:00 a.m.. You can meet your friends over coffee and freshly baked cookies, peruse around the new arrivals and stock up on English books, dvds, audio tapes and cds for the upcoming months. Cost of loans: €1 per book, €1.50 per DVD. (The library is also open for 1 hour on the same day from 6pm but please double check with activity leader first).

LUNCHEON GROUP

Description:
This activity is a great way to get to know better some other fellow members, sharing experiences and laughs over good food and wine. The groups are formed at random, trying to mix as many nationalities as possible to make it more fun. They meet once a month. Remember: you don't need to be a good cook or have a mansion to host the luncheon!

MOMS CLUB

Venue: Rotates between homes and playgrounds
Description:
A monthly meeting where our members with children can share their experiences and swap valuable information while the kids play in a nice and safe environment. They meet one month in the morning and the other in the afternoon to make sure our busy moms can all attend.

MONTHLY COFFEE MORNING

Monthly coffee morning is not exactly an activity but rather a monthly meeting for club members to mingle over coffee and to learn about the different events planned for the coming months. NEWCOMERS' MONTHLY COFFEE MORNING

A professional tour guide, Laura helps newcomers and old residents (and even natives) alike navigate through the deep and sometimes unchartered waters of Italian bureaucracy. She also informs us about what's going on in Turin (much more that you would think!). An unparalleled source of precious information for us all.

READING GROUP

Description:
One of the most successful activities of our Club, thanks to Rosemary.s expert guidance and a very prestigious venue. It takes place the last Tuesday of the month at 10:30 in the magnificent setting of Circolo dei Lettori. At the beginning of the Club year we all decide the books to read and discuss over the year, taking turn to present each book and lead the discussion.
